Primary Six Integrated Science equips upper-primary learners with essential scientific knowledge, practical inquiry skills, and health literacy to navigate the physical and biological world. Aligned with the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) syllabus, this course emphasizes observation, experimentation, and critical thinking. By connecting scientific concepts to daily life in Uganda, pupils learn to promote personal health, practice environmental conservation, and understand the technological principles that shape modern society.
What Learners Will Study Throughout the course, learners will explore key thematic units across biology, physics, health, and agriculture:
- Human Body Systems & Health: Detailed study of the circulatory and respiratory systems, communicable diseases (including HIV/AIDS and malaria prevention), sanitation, and reproductive health.
- Agriculture & Crop Husbandry: Tuber crops, root crops, pests and diseases control, soil conservation, and modern farming practices to improve yield.
- Energy in the Environment: Principles of sound energy, light energy (reflection and refraction), simple machines (pulleys, levers, and inclined planes), and magnetisms.
- Environment & Resources: The water cycle, air composition, environmental degradation, and sustainable management of natural resources.
- Matter & Science in Daily Life: Physical and chemical changes, heat transfer, and practical scientific applications in home and community development.
