The Heart of Technology & Design

In the context of the new competency-based curriculum, Technology and Design is fundamentally about practical problem-solving. It moves away from the traditional model of memorising tool names and writing endless definitions, focusing instead on applying knowledge to the real world.

At its core, the subject trains learners to look at their environment, identify a genuine need, and use available materials to construct a working solution.

From Consumers to Creators: The primary goal is to shift students from being passive users of everyday items to active creators. Rather than just learning about a desk or a water stand, they learn how to analyse a stable structure, select appropriate local materials (like timber or metal), and safely construct it to serve a specific purpose.
