PRIMARY FIVE ISLAMIC RELIGOIUS EDUCATION TEACHERS GUIDE

Primary Five Islamic Religious Education guides upper-primary learners through essential spiritual, moral, and historical foundations of Islam under the overarching theme of living in accordance with Allah’s guidance. Aligned with the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) syllabus, this course fosters moral discipline, reverence for Islamic tradition, and practical devotion (Ibadah). By linking Qur'anic teachings and Hadiths to daily life, pupils develop strong ethical principles, learn to discharge their religious duties with understanding, and cultivate respectful relationships within their families and wider communities.

What Learners Will Study Throughout the course, learners will explore core thematic units covering key areas of Islamic knowledge:

• Qur'an & Hadith Studies: Recitation, memorization, and practical lessons from selected Surahs (such as Surat Al-Fil, Al-Quraish, Al-Ma'un, and Al-Kauthar), along with authentic Hadiths on purity, kindness, and moral accountability.
• Tawheed (Faith & Belief): Understanding the fundamental Pillars of Islam (Arkan al-Islam) and Pillars of Faith (Arkan al-Iman), focusing on belief in Allah, His Angels, and the Divine Books.
• Fiqh (Jurisprudence & Worship): Practical guidance on physical and spiritual purification (Taharah and Wudhu), the conditions, steps, and importance of observing daily Salat (prayers), and guidelines on Siyam (fasting).
• Tarikh (Islamic History): Key milestones in the early life and mission of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), including his childhood, character as Al-Amin (the Trustworthy), the revelation at Cave Hira, and the early Muslim community.
• Akhlaq (Ethics & Morality): Developing Islamic virtues such as truthfulness, respect for parents and teachers, cleanliness, avoiding bad habits, and living peacefully in a diverse society.
