Hujambo! Welcome to Senior One Kiswahili.

Under the new lower secondary competency-based curriculum, our approach to learning this language is entirely different. We are stepping away from old methods of rote memorisation and cramming vocabulary lists. Instead, this subject is built entirely around active participation and real-world communication.

Kiswahili is one of the most widely spoken languages in Africa and a vital tool for connecting with people across the East African community. Our primary goal is to ensure you can confidently use the language in practical, everyday situations. Whether you are greeting elders in your community, buying items at a local market, or introducing your family, you will learn by doing.

Throughout this course, we will use familiar Ugandan settings and scenarios to make the language come alive. You won't just be copying words into an exercise book; you will be speaking, listening, and developing the actual skills needed to communicate effectively.
