ART/D2: ART AND DESIGN SENIOR TWO

Under the new competency-based curriculum, Senior Two Art and Design shifts learners from basic theory to practical, hands-on creation. The subject focuses on developing usable, real-world skills that allow students to solve visual problems, explore local materials, and celebrate Ugandan culture.

In Senior Two, the curriculum is structured around four main pillars:

• Drawing & Painting: Mastering proportions, light, and shadow using everyday objects and human figures from the local environment.
• Graphic Design: Creating purposeful visual communication, such as posters, typography, and logos for local businesses.
• Fabric Decoration: Learning practical textile techniques like tie-and-dye, batik, and printmaking.
• 3D Art & Pottery: Exploring physical form and space using locally sourced clay and found materials.

Ultimately, this subject empowers learners to observe their surroundings critically, think creatively, and produce functional art that can contribute to their communities and future livelihoods.
