PRIMARY SEVEN MATHEMATICS TEACHERS GUIDE

Primary Seven Mathematics serves as the capstone of primary school numeracy, bridging foundational concepts with real-world application and logical reasoning. Aligned with the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) syllabus, this course is designed to consolidate mathematical competencies, foster critical thinking, and build confidence in problem-solving as learners prepare for the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) and lower secondary education.

What Learners Will Study

Throughout the course, learners will engage with a broad spectrum of core mathematical topics:

• Sets and Numeration Systems: Venn diagrams involving set operations, advanced place values, bases, standard form, and finite/modular arithmetic.
• Operations on Numbers & Sequences: Whole numbers, indices, prime factors, fractions, recurring decimals, LCM, and HCF.
• Commercial Mathematics & Ratios: Direct/indirect proportion, percentages, simple interest, discount, profit, and loss.
• Algebra & Integers: Simplifying expressions, forming and solving linear equations, and graphing linear functions.
• Geometry & Measurement: Angle properties, perimeter, area of composite shapes, volume and capacity, circumference of circles, and construction.
• Data Handling & Probability: Interpreting statistics, constructing pie charts, and analyzing simple probability.
